The first carnatic war(1744-48)

As war broke out in Europe ,it spilled over into India.The British settlement of Madras,which was in the province of Carnatic ,was captured by the French.The British in turn tried to attack Pondicherry .As the war ended in Europe,Madras was restored to the British .
Meanwhile ,Dupleix decided to play a more aggressive role by interfering in the Carnatic .He planned to use the armies and resources of the local nawabs and rajas to serve the French interests and to expel the British from India.
