The Third Carnatic War (1756-63)

The Third Carnatic War was an extension of the Seven Years War in Europe .the British had gained control of the rich province of Bengal after the battle of plassey (1757). The French were handicapped by a constant shortage of funds .They were decisively defeated in the Battale of Wandiwash in 1760, Within a year they lost all their possessions in Carnatic . The French continued to trade under the protection of the British. The English also realized the weaknesses of the Indian rulers and their armies .They were to use these to their advantage in coming years.Having eliminated all their foreign rivals the EEIC embarked on an era of wars and conquests.
